The Center for Advanced Surface Analysis (CASA) is a consortium of laboratories at the University of Lausanne and Ecole Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL) that use state-of-the-art equipment for elemental and isotopic surface analysis for a wide range of research topics spanning from geology to biology. The analytical instruments within CASA are hosted in the new GEOPOLIS building (pictured below) of University of Lausanne, Switzerland.

The CASA consortium represents a unique ensemble of analytical techniques such as SIMS and (cryo-)NanoSIMS ion microprobes , LA-ICPMS, cryo-scanning electron microprobe(s), and an electron microprobe. Through rich scientific collaborations between the CASA laboratories and with their external scientific partners, the CASA has gained international visibility and now hosts an increasing number of international visitors and serves as a basis for workshops and winter/summer-schools.
