Opened in January 2013, the Center for Advanced Surface Analysis (CASA) is a common UNIL/EPFL platform hosted in the new Geopolis building of University of Lausanne.
This Swiss research center is equipped with the state-of-the-art micro-analytical mass spectrometers (SIMS, LA-ICPMS, NanoSIMS), scanning electron microprobe and electron microprobe analyser. This centers thus offers a unique opportunity to a broad range of scientists in term of imaging, chemical and isotopic characterization of solid matter.
These instruments are used in research in such divers topics as:
- Material sciences
- Geology
- Cosmochemistry
- Stable isotope geochemistry
- Biomineralization
- Environmental microbiology
- Cell biology.
